Spotty Skirt June 26, 2008

It twirls!
It was superfast to flick together, which is kinda ironic considering the fabric stayed in a bag on the desk for months. I’ve used stetchy ‘ribbing’ (unsure of the english word) for the top to satisfy fussy young wearers, and to avoid the bulk of elastic. It is constructed using 6 panes, and the next one will have to be a little wider to allow more room over the hips, and more twirl!

Biggest headache was the straight-cut satin ribbon that covers the circular hemline. It was meant to be a wide ribbon, but it was impossible to make it fit nicely, so I decided to iron it in half and use it as a kind of bias binding. Note to self – dont try that again. Use bias binding.

Hot or Not? HOT – ‘coz i lurve the spots.
